Have you graduated but finding it hard to land interviews or graduate roles in Data Science/AI due to a lack of industry experience? You’re not alone.
To help address this challenge, the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology has funded the ‘AI Traineeship Programme’ pilot at the National Innovation Centre for Data (NICD) to support graduates looking for their first full-time role.
The programme offers you an exciting opportunity to gain real-world, industry-relevant experience in data science and AI to enable you to be more work-ready for potential employers by engaging you in the technical and business skills they require.
This fully funded, full-time 6-month traineeship starts on 15 September 2025 at the National Innovation Centre for Data.
You will need to have experience of AI and data science skills (e.g. machine learning) from your degree.
What Is It?
This unique pilot programme is designed to equip graduates with the skills, confidence, and experience to apply data science and AI in real-world business settings.
What To Expect
- You’ll work on collaborative projects with private and public sector organisations, applying AI and data-driven solutions to real business challenges
- You’ll take part in a 5-day Data Innovation Bootcamp to build foundational skills and confidence solving real-world business challenges
- You’ll learn in-demand skills with one-to-one mentoring by NICD’s PhD-qualified data scientists
- You’ll gain hands-on experience that will boost your employability and career prospects
- You’ll be supported by a 6m traineeship allowance (£10,390)
